— March 16
As the public health authorities have recommended new limitations on public gatherings in Canada, Bishop Crosby has ordered the suspension of the public celebration of the Eucharist in our Diocese, on both Sundays and weekdays, and has dispensed the faithful from the obligation to attend the Sunday celebration until we are able to gather once again.
As your Pastor, I will be celebrating the Eucharist privately for your intentions each Sunday, and in his letter to Bishop asks us to remain united with one another in prayer.
Funeral Masses and receptions are not permitted, though graveside commital services remain possible. A funeral mass may be celebrated at a later date. Communal celebrations of Baptism are postponed until further notice.
Marriage preparation courses in the diocese have been canceled until the end of May.
At this time as well, large parish gatherings set for the coming weeks are canceled. This directive applies until further notice.
The Chrism Mass (Monday of Holy Week) will be celebrated privately without the participation of priests, deacons and faithful.
