Small Groups

“All who believed were together and had all things in common.
Acts 2:44

Life is better connected!

We’re so excited that you’re thinking about joining a Small Group here at St Pius Brantford. You may have lots of questions, and that’s okay. Already have all the answers and just want to get registered? Let’s do it! Still have questions and want to dive a little deeper? Check out the additional details below.

Why Small Groups?
We believe faith grows in a circle. In Small Groups, we grow in fellowship and relationship with one another, with God, and in ways that we cannot grow on our own. Small Groups are where our big church gets small.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name,
I am there among them.”
– Matthew 18:20

What is a Small Group meeting like?
A simple format – gather; pray; watch a video; discuss; pray.

What is a Small Group?
It is not a support group – but you will support each other.
It is not a prayer group – but you will pray.
It is not a bible study – but you will read the bible.
It is a place to discuss and have a conversation about Scripture and how it intersects with our lives.

How big are Small Groups?
Groups will typically be 8 to 10 people, though they may sometimes be slightly larger or smaller.

I’m not currently attending Mass. Is a Small Group for me?
Yes! Because of the current situation, all our groups will start meeting online, and at least one group will remain permanently as an online community.

How often do Small Groups meet?
Groups typically meet weekly, except during the summer.

Where do we meet?
Currently all our groups will begin meeting online. As the situation permits, most Groups will transition to in-person meetings in members’ homes.

What do we talk about?
The parish will provide video material to view, and questions to help your discussion.

How long are the meetings?
Online meetings (necessary at first) are from 1 hour to 1¼ hours. In-person meetings generally a bit longer.

Why join?
Small Groups offer a chance to grow in faith, in relationship with God, and with one another. They are where our large community becomes small. Our faith can flourish when we have the chance to discuss and consider it with friends in faith.

“Sometimes you need the group,
and other times the group needs you.”

What can I do?
We are hoping that eventually every member of the Parish will be in a Small Group. How deeply you engage with that group is up to you. Are you interested in being the Leader or Co-Leader of a Small Group? Email Are you interested in participating as a member? Sign up for the group that fits you best! Are you interested in something in between? Join a group and ask the Leader how you can help!

And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.”

Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.
