Ministry of Greeting
At each Sunday Mass and on other special occasions, parishioners are responsible for extending a hand in welcome to those who join us for our liturgical celebrations. These ministers are scheduled on a rotation basis and usually exercise their ministry at the Sunday Mass which they regularly attend.
All parishioners are invited to take a turn bringing forward the bread and wine for the Eucharist. If interested, speak to a member of our pastoral staff, one of the greeters, or to the Mass Coordinator when you arrive for Mass. These ministers are not scheduled ahead of time.
Ministers of the Word (Lectors)
We are always in need of parishioners who are able to proclaim God’s Word at our Sunday Masses and other special liturgies throughout the year. A training session is provided for all who are called to exercise this important ministry. Readers are scheduled on a rotation basis and usually exercise their ministry at the Sunday Mass which they regularly attend.
Ministers of Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are needed to distribute the Eucharist at all of our Sunday Masses and at other special occasions during the year. Training is provided for all who are called to exercise this important ministry. Ministers are scheduled on a rotation basis and usually exercise their ministry at the Sunday Mass which they regularly attend.
Additional ministers are needed to bring Communion to the sick and home-bound each week. Training is provided. Ministers are scheduled according to the current needs of the sick and home-bound. Some of the home-bound receive Communion on Fridays; others receive on Sunday following Mass.
Those who have celebrated their First Communion are welcome to become altar servers. Two or three training sessions are provided. Servers are scheduled on a rotation basis and usually exercise their ministry at the Sunday Mass they regularly attend.
Adult servers are needed for funerals and other special celebrations during the year. Training is provided for those who exercise this ministry.
Mass coordinators set up for Mass on Sunday, ensure that all the liturgical ministers are present, assist the servers during Mass and are responsible for cleaning up after Mass. Training is provided. Ministers are scheduled on a rotation basis, usually for the Mass they regularly attend.
We are blessed with many dedicated and gifted musicians in our parish community. However, we always welcome other musicians who would like to use their gifts to support our singing and add dignity to our liturgical celebrations. We welcome new choir members, cantors, and instrumentalists. Our adult choir presently leads the singing at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass and rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. Contact our Music Director, Colin Cousins, at the parish office (ext 242) for more information.
Funeral Music Ministry
New choir members are always welcome for our New Life Choir which provides music for funerals. This choir rehearses approximately once a month.
A small team of parishioners gathers each Wednesday morning to help prepare the church for Sunday Masses. They also decorate the church for various feasts and seasons during the year. If you would like to be part of this ministry, please contact the Parish Office.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
This program is offered for children ages 5-9 during the 11:00 am Mass on most Sundays during the school year. Parents or other adults who would like to take their turn leading the Sunday celebrations of God’s word with children during the Sunday morning Masses are asked to contact the parish office. Training and ongoing support is provided.
Funeral Luncheon Team
A group of dedicated women in our parish provides luncheons in the parish hall following funeral liturgies in our community. They are always grateful to parishioners who kindly supply baked goods, and are eager to have others join them in their ministry of consolation. If interested, contact the parish office.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
A group of parishioners knit or crochet shawls for the sick and home-bound as well as palliative patients in our community. When making the shawls they pray for those who will receive them. If you wish to participate in this ministry, contact the parish office.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society respond to those in need in north Brantford and are generously supported by our parish community. Some people visit homes; others assist at the store. If you are able to be part of this ministry, contact the parish office.
To prepare young people for the celebration of sacraments of Christian Initiation we rely on the generosity of many volunteers. We always welcome new volunteers to assist with the preparation programs for Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and the RCIA (adult initiation). If you are interested in helping, call Andrew Beach at the parish office and he will explain what is required in terms of training and time commitments.
The Catholic Women’s League
All women in our parish are invited to participate in the important work of the CWL. The members of this group offer education and speak up on important societal issues, raise funds for our parish and a host of other groups and individuals, and build up our Christian community. If interested, contact the parish office.
Knights of Columbus
All men in our parish are invited to enjoy the fraternity of the Knights of Columbus and participate in their many outreach projects in our local community. If interested, contact the parish office.
