Ann has been a member of St Pius for almost 40 years. Ann was married at St Pius in 1984, has one son, David, who was also married at St Pius and is blessed with one granddaughter, Catherine. After retiring from her career of 30 years in retail, Ann joined our staff as secretary in July 2013. When Ann is not working at the office she enjoys spending time with family, volunteering at St Pius, and being dedicated Girl Guide Leader. Other passions are sewing, reading, gardening, and traveling.
The eldest of 8 children in a Catholic family, I have great memories walking with my sibling to St Basil’s Church on Sunday mornings being the one responsible to show my younger siblings that spending one hour a week at church was a perfect way to start your week. Usually, there was a treat on the way home or at least waiting at home for us. We would share with our mom what happened at church, the homily, and who was there that she knew. Sunday morning Mass has remained the best way for me to start my week no matter where I am.
I attended St Basil, St Ann and Christ the King Catholic elementary schools, continued my high school education at Providence College, an all-girls school run by the Sisters of Providence then at St John’s College, all-boys school, when they joined to create a coed Catholic high school in Brantford. The guidance of the nuns showed me a different dimension of my faith that reinforced God’s unconditional love, kindness, and patience. Values that are still very important to me in everything I do.
At St Pius, I have been involved in Liturgical Ministries and RCIA years before I became the parish secretary. Both of these have helped me grow in my faith while assisting others to learn and grow closer to Jesus
