Do you ever find it hard to hear at Mass? You’re not alone! Over the past few months, we have improved our Sunday Mass sound quality, both in the building and on our livestream.
Our most recent addition comes thanks to a generous grant from the Ex Corde Foundation created by the Diocese of Hamilton. With their financial support, we have been able to purchase and install an assistive listening device system. You may be familiar with these devices from theatres, concert halls, and other similar venues.
The concept is simple – you just pick up a small receiver pack, with attached headphones, and turn it on. The headphones receive a clear signal directly from the sound system, and it helps tune out any background noise.
We have six sets of receivers and headphones available, but feel free to bring your own headphones if you’d prefer (the packs are compatible with any standard set of earbuds or headphones). Neck loops are also available for those who have hearing aids with neck loop connectivity.
There’s an app for that!
For the tech-savvy out there, it’s also possible to connect to the system using your smartphone. Simply connect to the WaveCAST Wifi network when you’re in the church. You can download the app from Google Play or the App Store (WaveCAST_Receiver) for free. Once you’ve downloaded it, simply open it, click on the network to connect, and set the volume on your phone. Don’t forget your headphones or earbuds!
