Each year, Parishes across the Diocese are invited to submit the names of Altar Servers worthy of receiving the Bishop’s Award for Service, the highest honour an Altar Server can receive. This award is sponsored annually by the Serra Clubs of Hamilton and Halton, and the awards are usually presented to Altar Servers from Halton, Hamilton, and Brantford at a Liturgy held at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King in mid to late May.
In 2020, we submitted the names of four Altar Servers that we felt deserved this honour. Unfortunately, with the lock-downs that spring, the Serra Club made the decision to postpone the awards until the spring of 2021. In the spring of 2021, the decision was made to postpone the awards indefinitely, and Parishes were mailed copies of the award, as well as a certificate and letter from the Bishop, for each recipient.
Over the last few months, two of our winners have been able to return to regular service and were presented with their awards at Mass, by Fr Andrew Czarny.
Jack Klunder received his award at the 9:00am Mass on May 15th.

Nathan Ziotek received his award at the 11:00am Mass on May 22nd.

Keira Bigrigg and Parker Piekosz have not returned to Altar Serving, and have been given their awards separately.
